TUFS Campus

In 2000, TUFS moved its campus to Fuchu City in the western part of the city, realizing education and research in an advanced IT environment supported by modern facilities and equipment.? The　university was ranked No.4 out of 156 universities nationwide in the popularity ranking surveyed by Asashi Shinbun Company, a major nationwide news paper company in Japan.?

The current Fuchu campus houses Research & Lecture Building, Library, Research Institute of Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa (ILCAA), Japanese Language Center for International Students, International Residence Halls (No.1, 2 & 3), Administration Building, Health Care Center, University Center and Sports ground in the vast area of 130,000 ㎡ in the leafy suburban environment.

TUFS is located in an area with a lot of nature and natural beauty.? Right behind the campus are many sports fields used mostly on the weekends by local groups.? Also, there is a small but fun park called Musashino-no-Mori Koen.? The Fuchu Municipal Government recently expanded its size and added a lake.? Walking past this park, you will quickly reach the side entrance to Nogawa Park, which is very large and well-known on this side of Tokyo.? The park has walking trails, tennis courts, and a practice area, and other facilities, and is always full of people having picnics or other sort of fun when the weather is good.? Either by walking past the part or through the park, you can reach Nogawa River, which is very pleasant to walk or jog along.? There is even an old waterwheel.

Other possible attractions around campus include Ajinomoto Stadium for sporting events and concerts, Fuchu Art Museum and Community Center (housing a swimming pool, gym, athletic facilities, tennis courts, etc.) by Higashi-Fuchu Station (10 minutes by bike from TUFS), Tama Zoo (30 minutes on train) and Mount Takao (about 1 hour on train).
