自己紹介 / Biography

各個言語のフィールドワークに基づく文法記述を柱とした記述言語学が研究の根幹をなしている。1989年からの10年間はアラスカ州内陸部およびユーコン準州西部の上タナナ?アサバスカ語(Upper Tanana Athabaskan)のフィールド調査をした。その後日本のろう者の母語である日本手話を数年間研究調査した。また2004年夏からは、マダガスカルのろう者の母語であるマダガスカル手話のフィールド調査も始め、現在に至っている。コロナ禍で現地に行けない間、日本でできる音声マダガスカル語調査も行った。このような自ら研究調査を行った言語からのデータを含めた、言語類型論的考察にも興味を持っている。
My main topic of instruction is general and/or descriptive linguistics which are based on field researches of individual languages. Starting from 1989, I studied Upper Tanana Athabaskan in Alaska and Yukon for a decade. After that, I started studying Japanese Sign Language, which is the native language of the Deaf Japanese people. In the summer of 2004, I started studying Malagasy Sign language in Madagascar and it continues till now. Under the COVID-19 pandemic, I have not been able to go to Madagascar, therefore I did field research on spoken Malagasy in Japan. I am interested in linguistic typology and the areas surrounding it based on my data that I gathered over the years.
